We have a Dinosaur friend

and last Thursday he was chasing Maddox. Maddox said he was blue, he was little and he was smaller than Maddox.

He was running and hiding from the Dinosaur. Then when I went potty, his shut the bathroom door so the Dinosaur couldn't come in.

BUT when we left (to go to caribou to get coffee, to get rid of myheadache), the dinosaur had to come with. We could not leave him home.

So we had to sit on the stairs and wait for him. Then we had tohold the door open to wait for him. Then we had to keep the garage dooropen to wait for him. Then, every 10 steps (we walked), we had to sitdown on the curb and wait for him.

We got to caribou and waited for him there. Maddox forgot about himand then later remembered. But by that time, the dinosaur had made itto Caribou.

Then we had to bring the Dinosaur home.

On Friday Morning a motorcycle drove by outside while we were in the kitchen. Maddox started to cry and said "the dinosaurs are leaving me!" I told him "That's just a motorcycle, Maddox", he said "OK!" and then he was fine!

The day before the Dinosaur came to Caribou with us (Wed), Maddox came running into the upstairs bathroom with me saying "The Tiger is getting me!" and slammed the door shut!

His imagination is definitely developing :) I always hoped Maddox would have an imaginary friend, I never thought it would be a dinosaur though!

Yesterday, we went over to my mother's house. She had bought me a pair of Jean's at Old Navy and I wanted to exchange them for another pair, but I couldn't find any that I liked so we bought Maddox a Dragon costume instead. He was tired and crabby and we had to force the costume on him. He wanted to look in the mirror and kept peeking, but he's too stubborn. When we got home he still wouldn't try it on, but right as Grandma Diane and Bepaw were pulling into the garage, I talked him into putting it on to scare them. It was the cutest thing ever. He went outside and scared two people that were on their evening walk. When he looked at himself in the mirror, he put his hands up to his face and let out the cutest giggle. He thought it was really silly! My mom also has a Lion coming in the mail for Maddox. We had a little over $8 left on the gift card and put that towards it. They're $22.50, but because of the Baby Sale that is going on, they're 25% off! I just wish they had a puppy. Maddox LOVES to pretend how to be a puppy. We were going to get him the costume pictured below, but probably not anymore. I'm a little sad about it, but the thing IS $44. I just wish they made a puppy that cute for cheaper.

This is the Dinosaur costume we wanted, but maddox wanted to be a Puppy!

Besides the fact that the Dragon from Old Navy is far cheaper than this Dinosaur, I think it's much more practical as well. The hands just have little elastic bands that you slip your fingers through. This dinosaur Costume looks like it's a mitten type hand. He wouldn't be able to hold anything.

Today we went to the park. We have been there a couple other times this summer and Grandma Diane and Bepaw have brought him a couple times on their evening walk. There were way too many bee's during the day, but today was nice and cool, so no bee's! He walked about half way there and half way back. He always wants me to carry him, so I had to talk him into walking so far and then tell him I'd carry him so far before he had to walk "so far" again. He doesn't get tired, I think he doesn't like to walk. He can run and run and run forever when he's playing, but when it comes to walking somewhere, he wants up. So I think he's just bored.

We had alot of fun though. There was another little boy that came. He was only there for a short period of time though, because he borrowed one of Maddox's car (one of our favorite race cars that we smuggled out of Auntie Amy's house), barried in the sand and then couldn't find it. He went to his mom and said "Where is the car?" His mom told him it was our car and he explained that He was playing with it and barried it. He said "Didn't you see where I barried it?" His mom spent awhile looking for it and the little boy (about 3-4yr) sat on the bench. I told her it wasn't a big deal, but I think she was pretty upset with him for being so careless with somebody else's property. They left and came back with a handful of Money. I thought the little boy just gave Maddox 4 Quarters, but it turns out it was 5 silver dollars.

Around 1:14, I set my phone for 10 minutes, told Maddox we had 10 minutes to play and when my phone rang it was time to go home. When my phone rang, he was completely willing to leave. He did whine almost the entire way home though! He didn't put up a fight or anything, he just slouched as he walked and did a "uh huh uh huh ha" all the way! I said "Maddox, what is the matter?" and he whines "I stay at park." Goofball lol

Here are our pictures from today.

a Poopy update

It's been awhile since we've updated last. We've been quite lazy with this journal lately.

First off, I wanted to update on Maddox bowel movements (lol). Since he was about 2 months old we've had issues with him not being able to poop frequent enough and then when he does, they are hard and he has a really hard time getting them out.

After not pooping for over a week and struggling to for 3 days, Maddox finally did get something out on Friday. After that, he still had more in him and a large mass on the left side of his belly. He continued to struggle all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday afternoon the poor boy was in tears as he was trying to go again so we called the clinic and brought him to be checked out. The mass he had on his left side was even larger and now Maddox required an enema. Sunday night we started him on the prescription Miralax and gave him an enema. About 45 minutes after the enema, he pooped. He ended up bruising his butt in the process. :(

The good news is that Wednesday afternoon he went again on his own and it wasn't hard and he has gone today as well. I think the two jars of mandarin oranges that I bought him are helping alot too. We were supposed to give him another enema on Tuesday, but we didn't get a chance to and because he went on his own on Wednesday, we didn't have to give it.

Hopefully he keeps this up. He has a doctor's appointment on the 4th of September. Hopefully he will be able to eat normal foods after that. Right now he can not have any thing with Dairy. No milk, no cheese, no yogurt, etc. He cannot have Apples or Banana's and he is supposed to eat high fiber foods. We already try to buy him products that have a high amount of Fiber in them, but we've never restricted Dairy (limited cheese of course). He really wants cheese and yogurt though and hopefully he will be able to eat those again... soon!

We had to bring Maddox into the doctor the week before too. Not for pooping issues, but he has been rubbing his eye for months. He rubbed it non-stop, all day long for the first month, took about a week break and then started rubbing again. Something that his Grandma Diane wears or gives off (her dander?) causes Maddox irritation. He reacts the same way at our friend's, Krista, house and when the doctor came in the room. He also reacted really bad when we went to the MN Zoo on August 12th. He is on a trial of Zyrtec, which has actually been working great! He also has a sample of some eyedrops (can't remember the name right now), but he's only had to use those once. He has two prescriptions (one for the Zyrtec and one for the eye drops) and I'll be filling both of them. He had a runny nose the other day when Grandma Diane came home, but other than that, he's been runny nose and itchy eye free since he started the meds!

Anyways! Not a whole lot else is going on. His vocabulary is growing so much! You can tell when he is learning new stuff because he starts to stutter a little. But he says the most interesting things and his newest thing is "I have an idea!" He also tells me "If you want to play trains, you can!" and he will continue to tell me "you can! you can! you can!" until I play with him. He also comes up with really creative plans - like when we all wanted Dairy Queen and Maddox just wanted to stay home and play with Grandma Diane... He said that it would be "OK" if Mommy and Bepaw went to Dairy Queen. He didn't want anything, he just wanted Grandma to stay home. So Uncle, Bepaw, and I went to Dairy Queen while Maddox and Grandma stayed home to play "Croquet Ball".

But now onto the pictures! I know that is why you all *really* come here!

He made it!

Till 11am that is. At about 11:11am, he pee'd again. He stops what he is doing, looks down and says "uh oh". Now he is in a diaper for the rest of the day. I'll put him on the potty before naptime and before bedtime and see how he does.

10:10

10:10 AM - Maddox Pee's again. He is now in his last pair of undies. And I think they will be the last for today.

He appears to know what is going on.. and the fact that he can (usually) pee on the potty when he is asked to, is fantastic. I'm positive that he has no control over holding it in though. His body has not physically matured to that point yet.

But here are some cute booty shots!

Training Pants and Undies

Today we are trying training pants and some Diego undies. We sat on the potty (nothing - he tried though) and then put training undies on around 9am and he pee'd at about 9:12am. He didn't even notice. I felt him and he was wet. We took those off and put on the Diego undies (which we was quiet fond of) and those he wet at about 9:35am. He stopped playing as soon as it happened and when I asked him what was wrong, he patted himself and told me he was wet. We went into the bathroom, took off the undies and cleaned him up. He wanted his Diego undies on again, so we got another pair. Now he is in his second pair of undies. We have one pair of undies left and a couple pairs of training undies. I don't know that I want to put the training undies back on because he doesn't notice when anything happens in those. We are going to try for 2 hours in undies (to 11am), but if he wets too soon in his last pair, I think we'll put the diaper back on for the day.

Potty Time!

Maddox sat on the toilet two times in the past two days. Maddox has, intentionally, gone pee in his potty two times in the past two days. I am so proud of my little guy!

Friday afternoon, Maddox sat on his toilet after we got out of the shower. He sat and he waited. I asked "Are you going to go pee in the potty?" and he answered "mm hmm!", I asked "Do you know how to go pee in the potty?" and with a huge smile on his face, he pointed down to his penis. We waited some more and then I asked "Did you go pee?" and he answered "mm hmm!", I asked "can I see?" Then he sat, tightened up his belly and grunted a little. He got up, said "I did it!" and there was pee in his potty! We did a little dance and sang a little song and went up stairs to make popcorn.

This evening we were getting ready for bed and I asked Maddox if he'd like to sit on the potty. He said no, twice, and then I told him to come with me to go potty. He sat on the toilet, I sat on the toilet. We waited. I went potty and he went potty. He got up and said "Hurray! I did it!" He looked inside and I looked inside and there was pee in his potty! I poured his pee into the big potty and he flushed and we high fived!

Maddox is really proud of himself and so am I!

Happy Independence Day!

We had a BBQ yesterday with family and some friends (which Maddox slept through mostly lol) and afterwards we went to the races! Maddox's Uncle Matt raced at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN. It was alot of fun. Grandma Mary, George, Uncle Kerry, Auntie Amy, Dante, Ariana, and Kaden came with. Grandma Diane and BePaw Kirby invited Aunt Dawn, Emily, and BePaws friend Steve. Maddox wasn't so sure about the races. Throughout the entire thing he asked "Go Home?" He did have some good times though. Mostly, he just hated the ear plugs.

6.28.2007 - Yesterday, Maddox, Clayton, and I went to the baseball game. Twins Vs. Blue Jays. 8-to-5. It was a great game. I missed a little, Clayton missed a little. Torii had 2 home runs and another pretty cool catch (doesn't he always?!). We parked at Daddy's work and took the light rail over to the Metrodome. Maddox liked that.

More popcorn. I'm a little upset because I didn't realize we left the bucket from the last game at the dome and we didn't get one this time. I really wanted to bring it home.

And since we told Maddox he could only have Soda at baseball games, he was pretty much attached to it.

We've been really bad at updating lately. Pure laziness.

The month has been fairly uneventful so far. Maddox had a doctor's appointment on Monday, the 4th. He coughs A LOT everytime he sleeps. Nap or Bedtime. We were thinking allergies, so they drew blood, but everything came back normal and he IgE test came back at 9.something. Apparently anything between 0.4 and 300 and something is normal, so he was at the really low end, which means that it is highly unlikely that he has any allergies.

He did awesome at the doctors office. The only thing he said when they stuck the needle in his arm was "ow mommy, it hurts". No tears, no cries, no yelling, no screaming. The nurses were pretty entertained with his attitude towards everything and they gave him a mini blow up beach ball.

Friday, we dropped off our 4x6 proofs at the photographers to have them put into an album. We picked up 8x10's for our (Clayton and I) parents and we also got the CD with all of the images on it and permission to print as many, whenever, wherever. Maddox was crazy while we were there. He has been growling and raspberry-ing alot lately. Especially around strangers, when he is feeling nervous. I think it is his ice breaker.

This Monday we went to the North Mississippi Regional Park with Auntie Amy, Dante, Ariana, and Kaden. Our playgroup was there. We were going to meet Auntie there, but I forgot to get the car seat out of Clayton's car (so our friend Sara could come get us) so Auntie had to come get us. We made her children lunch as a trade. After we all played in the wading pool and at the park, we went to Aunties to cool off and then to Grandma Mary's.

We all went to Walmart and Maddox got some really cool stuff. Cousin Dante needed a baseball bat (he is playing T-Ball and the bat we had was too big and too heavy) and Maddox got a little jealous. He tried to pick out a real bat, glove, and ball, but they don't make them for 2.5 year olds, so he got a plastic and foam T-ball set. it's still a little too big for him, but he needs to play with it constantly.

He now has a
+ Football
+ Soccer ball
+ Golf set
+ Hockey set
+ T-Ball set

All the kid needs now is a basketball hoop and ball!

He's a sports superstar!

Anyways, onto the photos!

That's all for now. I'm sure there will be more baseball pictures. He is so cute when he plays and I'm so proud of how well he does! So I have to take alot of pictures.
