Fun on the Sled! & 12mo Well-Baby

Oh it's been a long day! But before we talk about that, lets look at pictures of me on my sled! We had to take the bus to the doctors, but before we did that, we played out in the snow and took rides on the sled!

Now to the long day story!

Mom and I caught the bus at 2PM. I had a 2:30 doctors appointment because I am ONE! and I also had to get my blood lead level tested. We got there a little bit late though, but it turned out to be ok. The doctor's visit was ok and then the nurse brought out the needles. I wasn't afraid at first, but after the first shot, I was horrified. She did it really slow. Mom hugged me and kissed me and rubbed my back. The nurse made mom turn me around and then she shot me in the other leg. That one didn't take as long, but it was still pretty long. After that, I thought I was alright and I thought it was time to leave, but it wasn't. They had to take my blood after that. It took more than ten minutes and it was the most horrible thing ever. First the girl pricked my finger and then she squeezed it over and over again really hard. After about 5 very long minutes she pricked my other finger and did it again. I clenched my fingers in my fists and shock for a good 10 minutes after that. We went to take the bus home and because we were in such a frenzy because of the horrible appointment we had, we got on the wrong bus and went downtown. We were supposed to get there at 5PM and another bus was supposed to come to take us home again at 5:07PM, but our bus didn't drop us off until 5:12PM and the other bus had left. We waited for over 20 minutes to see if there were any busses we could take anywhere, just to get out of the cold and to get to a phone, but the only other bus that came by was one that went out to the Maplewood Mall and Mahtomedi. We walked across the street and a really nice man in the office of the apartment building let us use the phone to call Dad. Dad came and got us because he only works a few blocks away and I had to ride home in the car without a carseat.

So anyways.. My stats were:

Weight: 21lbs 6.5oz
Height was Approx. 30-30.5 inches. The nurse didn't tell us and mom forgot to ask. But we'll get exacts next doc appt.

Also I can:

+ imitate activities
+ put block in cup
+ scribble (more like short, fast little lines)
+ kind of say one word (kitty)
+ walk well
+ stoop and recover
+ drink from a sippy cup

I cannot :

+ drink from a cup (I blow bubbles instead)
+ say two words

We haven't tried playing ball, but I don't think I can do that either.

It's my Birthday and I can cry if I want to...

But I didn't! I had a fun day! First, mom and I went to my ECFE class at New Hope Elementary. Only Max and Wyatt were there. I brought snacks (goldfish, raisins, and cheerios) and they were terrific. Mom forgot to bring her camera though. I took a nap when I got home and then mom, dad, and I went to Build-A-Bear and made Thadeus. And after that we went to the Maple Maze at the Maple Groves Community Center. After we came home from there, I ate and had a nap and then opened up my birthday presents from mom, dad, and grandma and grandpa Miller. Mom and Dad got me the LittleTouch LeapPad by LeapFrog. And grandma and grandpa got me a sled! I got a Birthday present from Grandma Mary on Monday night when I was over at her house! It was Lala from the teletubbies and she talks and has penguins on her belly!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we went over to Great Grandma Jahnke's house for a little bit. I played with my daddie's cousin Sam and ate some potato's and a dinner roll. There was alot of people there. My great aunt's and uncle's, daddies cousins, my grandparents Diane and Kirby, and Uncle Lewis and Julie. After that we went over to Grandma Mary's house. Aunty Amy, Uncle Kerry and my cousins were there. Uncle Eric came over too. We had lots more food. Grandma fed me Pumpkin Cream Pie, Chocolate Silk Pie, and Aunty Amy fed me Corn. Mom stuck to the basics and just gave me some potato's and sweet potato's... and a tiny bit of of Turkey.

Maple Maze!

Daddy went out of town last weekend to go hunting with Grandpa! Mom, Grandma Diane, and I hung out and it was alot of fun! Friday night we went out to eat at D'Amico & Son's and then went to Ace Hardware to find a new paint color for in the living room. Saturday we didn't hang out with Grandma. We went over to Aunty Amy's house. I got my flu shot and then we hung out with my cousins. Aunty watched played with me for awhile so that mom could work on my scrapbook! Sunday Grandma Diane brought us on a surprise trip to the Maple Grove Community Center. We went to the indoor playground called "Maple Maze" and it was alot of fun! At first I was a little iffy, but I warmed up after awhile and started walking around the whole area. This mean older boy kept coming in the 3 and under area. He kept stealing my balls from the ball pit and he pushed my down twice. Mom didn't see it the first time, but the second time she saw him come up from behind me, put his hand on my head and push me onto the ground. He really scared me. Everytime he came in after that, I started to cry. The staff girl made him leave and everything was ok after that!

Mom discovered today that I do not like baths anymore. I like to take showers. Everytime I am put in the bath I cry. Mom has to drain the water and turn the shower on to rinse off the bubbles. Tonight, mom laid the shower head on the bottom of the tub and let me play in the water. I had a great time trying to drink it!

Out For A Walk

Today was such a beautiful day! The high today was 61. Mom and I were going to go over to Caribou Coffee, she started to put on my winter jacket and my mittens.. and then she remembered that someone said it was going to be in the 60's so she opened the door up and it was gorgeous! We decided to go to the park instead. We got to the park and mom locked the wheels on the stroller and got me out and a couple of Ducks came up and were trying to get into the basket of the stroller. Mom decided to give them some cheerios and hoped that after they at them, they'd go away. They didn't, however, and then she gave them some more to buy some time. The ducks started to snap at my pant legs and at my hands and then a bunch of Canadian Geese came. Mom just picked me up and pushed the stroller away. Luckily, none of them followed. I decided to get down and walk and mom and I played on the path, picking up leaves, and walking in circles. The ducks and geese left the park and then there were two other boys at the park, both of them older than me, but I wanted to play with them anyways, so we went back.
