She is Maddox.

This little girlie is exactly like her brother. The fussiness, the gas, the squirming, the being up right, her looks, her skinny little hips and round belly, and now... she is burying her head into my chest and body.

Faye - 7 Weeks



We brought Faye into the doctor this morning. She caught a cold 2 weeks ago and she's been stuffed up and rattly (word? lol). The past couple days she's been drooling and raspy sounding and last night she threw up twice. Everything checked out great and she's perfect. Good ears, throat, lungs, etc. She weighed in at 10lbs and 9 oz!! Chub Whub! Go booby milk!

Starting to relax

Faye is getting used to the harness. She is sleeping pretty decent at night and is mostly happy during the day. She cannot get a good sleep without being in the wrap though. She will sometimes fall asleep if you lay her on the couch and let her cry a little. She will sleep for about 5 minutes, wake up and cry, fall asleep, etc. She is a bit more frequently awake and alert and has smiled at me a couple times - her first one being the day before she turned 6 weeks. It's a little sad, her being in this harness (besides any discomfort she has) because we cannot really change her clothes much and she cannot where anything with pants or long legs. No sleepers, not cute little leggings, etc. She's usually in a plain white kimono style t-shirt by gerber. Sometimes a onesie, but it's a lot more difficult to change her diaper in onesies. Gowns and sleep sacks are the only things that fit over her legs, really. I haven't tried any of her dresses yet. If she wears one, she'll have to have a t-shirt underneath so that the harness isn't on her bare skin. Might look a bit silly.

Nurse called back

Yay to the wrap, Nay to taking it off at night. They suggested putting a pillow under her legs and giving her some tylenol but she definitely needs to stay in the harness all night.

Spoke too soon or Jinxed?

Faye HATES the harness. Monday, she was fine and happy and was napping pretty well. Monday night and over night she screamed almost the entire night. I slept from 1-3am and than again from 5:30-6:30am. 3 whole hours of sleep. Tuesday, I got desperate enough to take the bus over to my sister's house. Faye passed out as soon as I put her in the wrap and stayed asleep the entire time we were busing, etc. We got to my sister's house, took her out, changed her diaper, etc and she screamed bloody murder for 99% of the time I was at my sister's house. She slept in the carseat on the way home and screamed more at home. I took the harness off for the night, which I'm not sure if I am even allowed to do, but she was completely content and relaxed. We laid on the bed together just staring at each other and chatting. She wiggled her legs and her arms around in a comfortable, relaxed way and just stared at stuff. She fell asleep on her own and I slept most of the night with my boob hanging out because she loves to nursing lying down (which she cannot do in the harness):

She screamed her head off when I put the harness back on this morning. She was quite for a little while up in the kitchen this morning while I walked around with her. She started to fall asleep, but she couldn't, so she woke up and was crying again. I put her in the wrap and she has been sleeping for awhile now. I called and left a message at Gillette. I'm hoping that I can wear her in this wrap and that I can take the harness off at night. The Triage nurse was pretty sure that the best time for the harness to be on is at night. It will definitely be a GREAT thing if I can wear her in the wrap though. If I can wear her for 2-3 hours 2-3 times a day, she should get enough sleep to hold her over and maybe allow her to sleep easier at night. She is getting NO daytime sleep at this point and besides last night with out the harness, no night time sleep either.

I also feel really bad for her because it is uncomfortable for both of us to nurse, so comfort nursing isn't very comforting for her. I can only nurse her in the cradle position, but with one arm in between her legs and one arm under her head. Her legs are spread and bent so that one knee is on my opposite boob and the other is on my hip bone.
